For 20 years, I have worked to develop strategic marketing and communications strategies focused on revenue generation. My career has centered around private schools and non-profits, where I have worked closely with admission, alumni & development, and other school offices to develop successful marketing programs that support strategic institutional initiatives.
Some of my most recent work includes developing an award-winning admissions welcome experience for a boarding school and marketing programs for a day school that resulted in annual fund efforts showing a 40% ROI and admission efforts increasing inquiries by 17% in less than one year. Prior to that, I led an award-winning strategic marketing and communications team whose programs helped the boarding school increase enrollment by more than 30% in three years, while also helping to increase annual fund participation by 20% and dollars raised by 15% in just one year.
In addition to my work with schools, I am an active writer for several organizations. You can find much of my work on Thoughtco.com (formerly About.com), InspirED School Marketers, and Blackbaud K12. I also enjoy helping educate others in the private school industry about marketing best practices. I have led several webinars and podcasts and have presented at national conferences including the NAIS Annual Conference, CASE NAIS Annual Conference, TABS Annual Conference, NAIS TABS Global Symposium and Blackbaud K12’s User Conference. My presentations range from website maintenance and best practices to inbound marketing, social media, and more.
In addition to serving in administrative roles in both admission and communications, I have held numerous other positions ranging from the advisor to a high school student newspaper advisor and a middle school yearbook to teaching middle school public speaking and digital photography. Having worked in both day and boarding schools with grades ranging from PK-12 and postgraduate, I have served as an advisor to both high school and middle school students, as well as several student clubs.
